Volunteer Training

Please note, in order to help with scouts, attend camps, den meetings, etc, parents must have training in Youth Protection.  It is very important to the BSA that we meet this requirement and that all parents involved in scouting take this.  Den Leaders and Pack Committee Members have additional training requirements.

What courses do you need to be trained?  Click this link:  BSA Training Initiative

After you take the training, please print your certificate.  Keep one copy for yourself and turn one into the Cubmaster or Pack Trainer.

MyScouting.org

These training courses can be taken online at www.myscouting.org.

Create an account — this can be done with orwithout your BSA membership ID.

If you enter your membership ID, your training records will be updated at the Council Office.

If you are not yet registered, you can still take training, just print the certificate at the end of each course.

After your account is created you will receive an email with a link. Click the link to activate your MyScouting account. This must be done before you can log in. If you do not receive an email, check your spam/junk folder.

Once you log in to myscouting, click E-Learning on the left hand side. Program Related Trainings is listed under tabs (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, and General).

Submit your certificate of completion to your Cubmaster.

Click on training validation* to review what courses you have taken, this includes courses recorded at the Council Office.

*After logging onto MyScouting.org , click on“Training Validation” and you can check to see if your trainings have beenrecorded in the Council's computer system.

We are encouraging all units to use this system to check the training status of all of their leaders. All you need is a list of membership ID Numbers and you can review the training status of the registered adult leaders. A list of these numbers can be found on your charter paperwork or you can obtain a list from your District Professional.

There are also numerous opportunities for Basic Outdoor Leader Training.  You can check these out at the Northern Tier Website.http://www.hoac-bsa.org/training-course-schedules
