VENTURING AWARD


The Venturing award is thelowest level award in the newly remodeled award system for Venturers. It is ajoining award, with an emphasis on commitment and personal safety.

Vemturers who wereregistered before June 1, 2014 skip this award. They start with the Discoveryaward instead.

Participating in aninduction ceremony is one of the Venturing award requirements. At the closingshow, all of the participants who had joined Venturing since May were asked tostand up and participate in an induction ceremony.  They they affirmedthere commitment to be Venturers and recited the Scout Oath.

1. Participate in a crew activity outside of a crew meeting.

2. Participate in an interview conducted by your crew president and your Advisor.

3. Complete Personal Safety Awareness training.

4. State intention to join the crew by participating in an induction ceremony, during which you repeat and commit to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Venturing motto: Lead the Adventure.

DISCOVERY AWARD




Adventure

1. Participatein at least two Tier II or III adventures at the crew, district, council, area,regional, or national level.

2. Completethe following:

a.Complete a standard CPRcourse such as American Red Cross - First Aid/CPR/AED for Schools and theCommunity or the American Heart Association - Heartsaver Pediatric FirstAid/CPR/AED or an equivalent course.

b.Complete a standard first aidcourse such as the American Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent course.

Leadership

3.Complete the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews course (or an     equivalent).

4. Complete BSA goalsetting - time management training course.

5. Complete VenturingCrew Officer Orientation.

Service

6.   Participatein service activities totaling at least 24 hours. Up to half of the service maybe delivered personally; the rest must be delivered through crew serviceactivities.

·Personal Growth

7.   Completea structured personal reflection, and use this reflection and what   you learned from the process toprepare for goal setting and as part of your Level II Award Advisor conference.Explore one of the following realms: "Adventures of Faith,"*"Adventures of Self," and "Adventures of Others."

8.   Inconsultation with your Advisor, establish at least one personal goal, andachieve it. The goal should be grounded in the realm you explored in PersonalGrowth requirement 7.

9.   Sinceearning the Venturing Award, participate in a conference with your Advisor.* Asa part of this conference, discuss with your Advisor the challenges you facedand what you learned in fulfilling Personal Growth requirements 7 and 8.

10.After your Advisorconference, successfully complete a crew board of review.

*A Venturer is notrequired to share the personal reflection associated with "Adventures ofFaith" with his or her Advisor, including the discussion that takes placeat the Advisor conference, nor with members of a board of review.

NOTE:?A Venturer may apply previousVenturing experiences to receive credit for requirements 1-3, 5, and 6, if therequirements were completed, as written, as a registered Venturer prior to June1, 2014.

All other requirements must be completedafter June 1, 2014.
