Scouting for Food

Each November we hang door hangers on the doors of homes throughout our local towns and the following week we return to collect the goodies left out. We take them to the local food banks *so all the food stays in our local towns!* sort them and put them on the shelves. It is a teaching moment to see the shelves go from empty in many cases to full.

Bridging

Our Webelo II den is only with us the first 6 months of a school year then they bridge to Boy Scouts. Our local Boy Scout Troop is 1254 however years ago there was a Troop in Hartwick "Troop 72" which could be created again. :)

The boys have a special ceremony which takes them from cub scouts, they build a bridge one board at a time with the scout oath and once it is complete they cross the bridge one at a time to Boy Scouts.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Blue and Gold Banquet is held in February and is the Celebration of the Birthday of Scouting. Just a couple years ago scouting turned 100!!

Blue and Gold Banquet consists of a Potluck dinner, Friends of Scouting Presentation, Entertainment, and a Pack Meeting. The night usually is about 3 hours start to finish.

Pack Meetings

Pack meetings are where the entire pack, all the dens come together once a month and tell what we have been doing. Advancements (other wise known as awards) are given, and announcements are made.

Pinewood Derby

Pinewood Derby is held in January and each scout is given a block of wood, axles, wheels and told to build it into a fast racecar. Cars have looked like anything from a wedge of cheese to a dragster. This is a great way to work on craftmanship and bonds with parents, friends and family. The pack provides the cars (blocks of wood) to the scout but other kits are available for purchase by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and siblings. Anyone with the pack is welcome to join us!
