Pack 4728 has seen a very strong leadership which keeps the boys active in: Community projects, Outdoor Activities, Fundraising Activities, and Fun Competitions such as the Pinewood Derby,Space Derby,Rain gutter Regatta. We incorporate the 12 core values of Scouting throughout our program which will carry over with them in their adult years.

Little Red Schoolhouse

Over 15 scouts, guests, and siblings took advantage of glorious weather today and came out for the hike at Little Red Schoolhouse. This is one of the "tortoise shell" hikes for the back of the brag vest. We put nearly 3 miles under our feet  as we learned about the history and flora and fauna of the area. Hope to see you next month at Indiana dunes.

WeBear campout

Despite all the rain and record flooding three bears and three webelos made the trip to Cantigny park for the WeBear overnight campout. The scouts played games, got to climb on tanks, toured the museum of the First Infantry Division, and earned their fishing beltloops. We had a fire to help keep us warm in the cold night air and had smores and cobbler for dessert. Despite the temps dipping below freezing a good time was had by both the kids and the parents.

April hike

We doubled down this month starting off at horsetail slough for a conservation event and a short hike to learn about a controlled burn off the forest preserve district had just completed. Sunday we had our monthly hike at bullfrog lake where we visited the site of the first nuclear reactor and former home of Argonne laboratory.15 scouts plus siblings njoyed the beautiful weather and hiked over 5 miles over the weekend. Hope to see you next month.

River Trails scout hike

12 scouts made the journey north for the hike on Sunday. The weather was cold but the snow never fell. We learned about tapping trees for maple syrup, the importance of the Des Plaines river for moving goods to the Mississippi river, but the best thing was watching the owl eating the mouse in the nature center after the hike. This was one of the "turtle shell" hikes for the back of the boys brag vests. Hope to see you next month.

Camp Carlen

                           Camp Carlen......OVER ALL!!!
What a busy week for our older scouts this week as 7 boys and 7 parents headed  up to Owassipie scout reservation. The boys worked on forester, ready man, aquanaut, artist, BB guns and Archery achievements. In our free time we took a hike to Chief Owassipie's memorial to pay our respects to the native American chief that the reservation is named in honor of, went to the pool, went fishing, learned new camp songs, and too many other fun things to list. We got tired, dirty, and sweaty but all the boys had a ton of fun too. Don't miss it when you get the chance to go kids and parents alike.

Lakefront Hike

Over 25 Adults and kids met at 31st street beach for the July hike. We logged 6 miles as we learned what a pivotal  figure Daniel Burnham was in shaping the landscape of Chicago's parks and Open spaces. We also visited the fireman and police memorials to pay our respects to all the brave first responders of Chicago.

Horsetail Lake Hike

We had it all today, Cub scouts, Boy scouts, siblings, adults, even pets for the hike this month. I lost count after 20 but it was a good turnout as always. 5 miles of shoe sole was left on the trail as we climbed up and down the glacial eskers that the area as known for sharing the trail with cyclists, joggers and people on horseback. Hope to see you next month.
